About the collection
In Praise of Love
Spring Summer 2012 Paul Smith Jeans draws inspiration from the work of two key cultural figures in France; the late artist Louise Bourgeois and the director Jean Luc Goddard.
The colour palette consists of two themes; the first reflects the inspiration drawn from Bourgeoisie tapestries; muted and bleached out tones of grey, navy and indigo are mixed with soft pinks and purples. The second theme contrasts with these soft colours by mixing together strong primaries and acid tones, in reference to the work of Jean Luc Goddard.
Outerwear is simple and utilitarian. Stand out pieces include a light blue utility twill jacket with patch pockets and a shawl collar and a classic workers jacket in light grey linen.
Jacquard patchworks, denims and chambray in traditional indigo and bleached grey are seen in shirting, sitting alongside stripes and acid Hawaiians prints.
